Torrevieja benefits from a long coast constituted of 4 main beaches of fine, golden sand connected by a large promenade, the pedestrian esplanade Juan Aparicio. All the beaches in Torrevieja are certified by the quality and environmental standards ISO9001 and 14001.
- The most famous and urban beach is la Playa del Cura. It is located closest to the city center and therefore, of all four, is the most touristic one (restaurants, kiosks, shops, etc.)
- La Playa de los Locos is situated northeast of la Playa del Cura. It owes its name to the old psychiatric hospital formerly situated next to this large urban beach.
- La Playa la Mata, the longest and most popular, is situated northernmost, in the Torrelamata neighbourhood. It stretches more than 2,3 km long and 40 m wide. We can find numerous extra facilities such as 14 bars, 8 beach volleyball fields, 1 beach mini-foot pitch, etc.
- La Playa de los Náufragos is of same size as la Playa del Cura. It is located westernmost and constitutes an end of the promenade. It includes a small aquatic park for the children.
The coast of Torrevieja is also constituted of numerous rocky coves (las Calas). These small capes offer clean and crystal clear waters making them the perfect location to enoy the quiet environment. The rich ecosystem is ideal for Snorkel practice. The esplanade also offers natural swimming pools with sandy beaches for the ones looking to avoid deep water waves.
